[ Questions ]

Common first-timer questions

I've never trained before. Is that OK?

Absolutely. Most people walk in with no martial arts background. Our Fundamentals classes are built for beginners, and the coaches will take you through everything step by step.

Am I too unfit or too old to start?

No. Jiu jitsu works on leverage and technique rather than strength, and it suits every age and fitness level. You train at your own pace and can take a breather whenever you need. The fitness comes with time.

What should I wear to my first class?

Shorts or leggings without zips or pockets, and a t-shirt or rash guard. Bring a water bottle. You don't need a gi to try a class.

What age can kids start?

From 5. Kids 1 is for ages 5–7 and Kids 2 for ages 8–12. From 13, teens train in the Fundamentals classes.

Is there a women-only class?

Yes, every Thursday at 5:00 PM. It's open to all levels, so it's a great first class.

Do I need to call before coming?

No. You're welcome to just come along to a beginner-friendly class. Arrive about 10 minutes early and introduce yourself. If you'd like help choosing a class, call or text 0459 238 517.

Still have a question?

Rhys is happy to help. Give him a call or send a text.
